SUMMARY:Potluck & Common Enemy Documentary Screening
DESCRIPTION:A plant-based plate from a past CAA potluck. \nSpace is limited. Please RSVP on Ticketbud to save your seat. \n6pm-7pm: Potluck: Bring a vegan dish to share! Everyone is welcomed to attend\, whether you’re vegan or not; please don’t assume everyone else is vegan\, and feel free to invite your friends and family. The food at the potluck should be vegan/100% plant-based — in other words\, it shouldn’t have any meat\, meat broth\, fish\, dairy\, eggs\, honey\, or other derivatives of these products. If you’re not sure what to make\, here are 25 quick\, easy vegan recipes\, or you could bring a vegan option from a local restaurant or grocery store (like chips with salsa & guacamole\, or carrots & hummus). \n7pm-7:30pm: Common Enemy Documentary Screening: After taking some time to meet each other and eat together\, we will be watching the documentary Common Enemy. The documentary explores the large-scale animal farms in Oklahoma and their impacts on the humans\, animals\, and environment of their state. (One week later\, on Sunday the 19th\, CAA is co-hosting a virtual documentary discussion and a Q&A with the director. Register to join the discussion on the 19th.) \nSustainability: We use ceramic dishes and metal silverware at this potluck to help protect the earth\, other humans\, and wild animals\, from plastic pollution. We appreciate every person who has time to lend a hand to help finish doing dishes in the basement kitchen after the event. Your generosity makes it feasible for us to have zero-waste potlucks and avoid waste and pollution — and it’s a great way to chat and get to know each other a bit better. Stick around for a bit after the event if you have a moment to help! \nRSVP: Remember to RSVP on Ticketbud. \nA still from the documentary Common Enemy\, showing a farm and manure pit. Thousands of pigs are confined in small pens here for nearly their entire lives.
